Tips to Set Exceptions in a Norton Antivirus

How to Set Exceptions in a Norton Antivirus. Norton Antivirus is a software application that blocks malware such as viruses, trojans and spyware. Some legitimate software is blocked by Norton Antivirus. This stops Norton from interfering with your software's normal processes, which can cause the software to fail or corrupt.

Instructions:

1. Double-click the Norton Antivirus software in your system tray. This opens your configuration window where you have several options.

2. Click the "Scan" button on the left side of the window. Click "Custom Scan" and click "Options." This displays a list of options for the scanning process when Norton Antivirus detects viruses.

3. Click "Security Risks." Click "Exceptions" and click "Add." This opens a configuration window where you add exceptions to any antivirus scan rule.

4. Select a program on your list of software exceptions. Norton lists each program installed on your computer, so you can eliminate the scanning process for your programs each time they load on your computer.

5. Click "OK" to save your changes. After you create the exception, you can either re-scan your computer for viruses or leave the exception for the next time you do a system scan.
