How to Update Offline Norton Antivirus. Norton Antivirus is one of the most popular antivirus software systems available for the general public. Normally, the user connects to the Internet, and the software automatically downloads the latest updates for the antivirus software. In computers that do not have Internet access, Internet downloading is not possible. However, you can still update your software so that the computer is protected.

Instructions

1. Point the browser to the Norton Virus Definitions website. (See "Resources" below.)

2. Download the virus defintions that fit the computer you want to update. Be sure the definitions are compatible with the version of Norton Antivirus that you use.

3. Transfer the downloaded file to the USB flash drive. Take the drive to the computer that needs to be updated and connect the drive to it.

4. Copy over the definitions to the hard drive of the computer and run the definitions. The software will then update the Norton Antivirus. Restart the computer if prompted to.

Tips & Warnings
You must have a Liveupdate subscription to update Norton Antivirus, or the software will not update.
