Tips to Repair Norton Antivirus

How to Repair Norton Antivirus. Norton Antivirus, a product created by Symantec, is a utility software suite designed to defend and protect your computer against threats such as spyware, malware, adware and viruses. The antivirus software works by scanning deep into your computer's program files and registry. Since Norton Antivirus is installed as a program file on your computer, these scans may sometimes alter or corrupt some of the components in the software, leading to errors. When this problem occurs, there are steps that you can take to update your software and repair any problems that may have taken place.

Instructions

Select "Internet" when prompted to choose how to connect to "Live Update," then click on "Next." Allow a few minutes for the update to complete. Once the update has finished, "Norton AntiVirus Repair Wizard" will automatically start.

2. Select "Yes" in the dialog box that appears when prompted by the Norton AntiVirus Repair Wizard, then select "Next." Select "Next" again in the dialog box to enable the wizard to repair quarantined items, then select "Finish." Allow the Norton Antivirus Wizard to repair your software. Reboot your computer when prompted.

3. Navigate to the Symantec Security Advisory website. Scroll down to the paragraph entitled "How to Obtain an Updated AutoFix Tool," then click on the provided link. Note that once you click on the link, you will be prompted to install the Norton "AutoFix Tool." Select "Save" when prompted, then allow the "AutoFix Tool" to download. Select "Run," then follow the instructions to install the tool. Double-click on the "AutoFix Tool" icon once your download has finished. Allow the software to scan and repair your Norton Antivirus software for issues, then reboot your computer.
