Tips to Make a Symantec Boot CD With Virus Definitions

How to Make a Symantec Boot CD With Virus Definitions. Symantec is the manufacturer of the Norton Antivirus computer security application. On versions of the software produced before 2005, the ability to create a boot CD with current virus definitions is embedded in the application's control panel. You can use the boot CD to help combat severe computer malware infections that prevent startup in normal mode or visiting the Internet to download the current virus definitions or fixes for new malware.

Instructions

1. Open the Symantec antivirus program by double-clicking the program icon on your computer's desktop.

2. Select the “Run Live Update” menu option to update the antivirus definitions on the application.

3. Select the “Rescue” menu option and choose “Create.” Acknowledge the subsequent dialog boxes.

4. When prompted, open your computer's CD/DVD burner drive and insert a blank CD-R/RW or DVD-R/RW.

5. Choose the “Continue” menu button. The Symantec boot CD will now be created with the latest virus definitions.
